Emily Desmond

Emily became interested in City Greens after being heavily involved in a similar store during her undergrad where she was able to learn about and experience an alternative model for addressing food insecurity on campus. Wanting to get more connected to the local food system in St. Louis, she began volunteering at City Greens in August. Due to her background and interest in public health and organizational management, she is joining the Board eager to get more involved with the strategy and operations of the store. Emily came to St. Louis in August 2021 for the Coro Fellows Program, which is a professional development program in public affairs where fellows rotate through six different sector placements to learn how to approach pressing civic issues from various angles. Excited by all of the opportunity and exciting work happening in St. Louis, she decided to stay after wrapping up the fellowship and now works at Greater St. Louis, Inc. as a Strategy Manager focusing on regional economic development and Downtown placemaking, among other initiatives. In her free time she likes to run around Forest Park and explore new pockets of St. Louis
